What is your favorite part of living in Michigan?
Being able to experience all four seasons. I love living in a state where I can experience each season without any being far too extreme. I don’t really have a favorite season but I would say that my favorite weather is snow or rain.
What is your favorite vacation destination?
Budapest! I’ve been there on many occasions and I never get over how beautiful the city is. I love walking over the Chain Bridge and walking around Castle Hill, this walk really gives you some of the best city views.
What is the last book you read?
Argo by Antonio Mendez and Matt Baglio. I first read it a few years ago and found it to be really captivating. Antonio Mendez has lived a fascinating life and he does a terrific job capturing these moments on page, his books are definitely must-reads.
Emma Hutton, intern, joined Columbia Asset Management in January 2018. She graduates from UofM in 2020, where she studies education and Spanish. She will be joining us full time in May.
What is the last book you read?
I just finished The Handmaid’s Tale and have been recommending it to a lot of friends. I began watching the TV show shortly after finishing the book, and it turned out to be even more disturbing! I’d catch myself on the edge of my seat, anxious for what was going to happen next throughout both the book and the show.
What is the most interesting place you’ve visited?
Nicaragua! I spent two months in Jinotega, a city in northern Nicaragua. It’s nicknamed “Ciudad de las Brumas,” or “City of Mists,” because of the mists that often cover the valley in which the city sits. It is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited, surrounded with stunning mountains and lakes. I volunteered with Outreach360, an organization that provides supplementary education opportunities for children outside of their normal school day. I plan to return and visit many of the students and staff soon!
Favorite Part of living in Michigan?
Most definitely all of the lakes, but especially Lake Michigan. I love spending time with my friends and family anywhere along the coast.
