First of all, who doesn’t love falling back to the phonetic alphabet whenever possible? (It turns out to be particularly useful knowledge when talking bond CUSIPS.) Since her last newsletter, Charlie too has earned her Certified Financial Planner designation (with the encouragement of Linda) and this year she is retiring from her position as King Elementary Assistant Treasurer and will be taking her talents to Eberwhite Elementary with Calum in the fall (though not officially on the PTO…yet). Charlie has continued to build traditions with her son including annual strawberry picking, Friday pizza and movie nights, maintaining a tomato garden and now they have about 500+ pet worms to take care of! (i.e. she got a vermicompost bin 😊)
What is your current favorite restaurant and what is your favorite thing to have there?
I have grown to really love Knight’s Steakhouse. The butcher burger with tomato, avocado and American cheese and waffle fries (and a dirty Ketel One martini) is my go-to order. Though Nobu on 57th in NYC is my current all-time favorite restaurant! The yellowtail sashimi is a must-order and I also love their tuna and avocado roll more than any other sushi roll I have ever met.
What is the last thing you successfully baked?
I guess you could say I ‘successfully’ made a strawberry crisp (with the strawberries pictured above) and I was told it was tasty. However, it was the most unattractive dessert I think I’ve ever made and I was embarrassed to claim it as my creation, haha. On Valentine’s day I successfully made Blueberry Cheesecake Crème Brulee bars that were pretty and deliciously decadent!
Restrictions aside, what is your dream trip and why?
I would love to travel to Greece. Ideally I would explore Athens for the first couple of days then go to one of the islands to relax by the pool and enjoy the scenery (and local food!). I’d also like to hike Machu Picchu but a lot more preparation and research will need to occur first!
Any book recommendations for the masses?
I am a history buff and recently finished “Five Presidents” by Clint Hill. I would recommend it to anyone, as it was a very easy read! I am currently reading “Empire of Pain” by Patrick Radden Keefe and it is horrifying but still interesting so far.
Do you like surprises?
No, not at all! But, I have learned to roll with the punches better since becoming a mom!
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Vanilla or vanilla with Oreos, yum!
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
1000% a morning person.
At the movie theatre, do you prefer candy or popcorn?
Always salty, buttery popcorn.
Thanks for sharing! 😊
