It’s time to introduce our newest employee, Chris Luong. Chris started with CAM in 2025 and immediately made our office better. He is very smart, dependable, kind, easy going, helpful, and fun to be around. He completed his Series 65 and is now studying for his CFP exam. He also appreciates the daily trains that go by the office, along with Brian. Let’s get to know him a little better.
Tell us about yourself?
Chris: I was born and grew up in Bien Hoa, Viet Nam (a small city about one hour north of Sai Gon). I first came to the United States when I was 15 as an exchange student and lived with a family in Walton, Indiana (a very small town of about 1,000 people). I lived there for two years and graduated from Lewis Cass High School. I’ve lived in Belleville since 2017 and recently moved to Plymouth. I also recently became a US Citizen in the summer of 2024.
What brought you to Michigan?
Chris: I moved to Michigan and got an associate degree from Washtenaw Community College, completed a summer program at London School of Economics, and then went on and graduated from the University of Michigan in 2023 with a degree in Economics.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Chris: I started doing archery in college and became the assistant coach for the student archery club. I’m very active in the club and love to do archery in my free time (fun fact: I met my best friend/girlfriend in archery club). Outside of work and archery, I really enjoy cooking, watching a good movie/show, and exploring local parks.
Speaking of cooking and food, do you have a favorite Vietnamese dish and restaurant in Ann Arbor?
Chris: I think Vietnamese food is the most balanced and healthy cuisine. My favorite is a bowl of BUN BO HUE (a spicy beef noodle dish that can be found at most Vietnamese restaurants) or XOI MAN (a super sticky rice with savory pork sausages, scallion oil, and fried onion toppings- a very niche, hard to find breakfast dish but so delicious if you can find it). For restaurants, I would say Frita Batidos is my favorite, but I also really enjoy Le Dog on a cold day.
Most interesting part of working at CAM?
Chris: Walking into CAM, I realized how inviting and open the space is and it doesn’t really look or feel like a typical office. I particularly enjoy the big windows and being able catch glimpes of people kayaking the Huron River or running in the park. Sometimes watching the dam or river for a bit can help bring a calming feel to the work day. The way-too frequent trains that go by daily can get a little distracting, but it does add to the vibe and we now have many inside office train jokes.
