It has been nearly three years since we started our Columbia Asset Management Employee Newsletter; and, as you can probably guess, we’ve run out of employees to introduce. However, a lot has happened in the world since then, so we’re starting back where it all began: with our first employee, Linda! She has since earned her Certified Financial Planner designation and added another dog to her brood. She has become famous in the office for a Swedish style cookie (see below) and ever-the-foodie she has updates on her favorite restaurant.
What is your current favorite restaurant and what is your favorite thing to have there?
It isn’t exactly a restaurant, but for the last few years our office has been gifted a lunch catered by Food Art and everything is always so delicious, fresh and beautifully presented. The sesame peanut noodles are a favorite of ours and they are presented in takeout boxes with chopsticks which are always fun. Before indoor dining was restricted I was enjoying SheWolf Pastificio & Bar in Detroit; the Burrata e Pera is one of my favorite appetizers and the Orata (a whole-roasted Mediterranean sea bream) is velvety, flaky, and wonderful. I can’t wait to go back!
What is the last thing you successfully cooked or baked?
I got ambitious one Sunday and decided to prepare Julia Child’s beef bourguignon and it was an all-day event and very tasty. But I know my colleagues want me to tell you about the Raspberry Caves (Swedish Hallongrotter) that I brought in recently – they all love them (and it’s the only cookie I can successfully make).
Restrictions aside, what is your dream trip and why?
Tuscany for all of the obvious reasons: food, wine and the scenery.
What are your favorite pizza toppings?
Onions, fresh tomatoes, and anchovies
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Ice cream, to me, is really just a base for excessive amounts of caramel sauce!
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
I am a middle of the day person, but if I had to choose, I’d say morning person.
What was your favorite show/movie that you watched this year?
The Queen’s Gambit and the Great British Baking show… and pretty much all the rest of Netflix as well.
Do you like surprises?
I have to say no. Surprises are always very thoughtful, and I appreciate the gesture, but I tend to prefer being able to prepare.
At the movie theatre, do you prefer candy or popcorn?
Not exactly a type of candy, but I love cotton candy, particularly at sports venues.
