Happy Fall! It’s no secret that fall is a beautiful time and many of us in the office look forward to this season; therefore, we decided to do a group newsletter on some of our favorite fall activities. You may also notice a new name in the responses we have a new employee, Chris Luong, who will be
the feature for our next newsletter. FALL-ow along for some unbe-leaf-able gourd commentary:
Do you have a favorite fall tradition?
Kory: Zingerman’s Pumpkin Cheesecake! Every fall, I like to get a slice of Zingerman’s Pumpkin Cheesecake with an espresso on the side; the dessert merges two of my favorite desserts (cheesecake and pumpkin pie) and having a strong espresso to drink between bites enhances the flavor.
*not sure what she’s doing working here because she should be in marketing for Zingerman’s!
Chris: Mooncakes! It’s a nostalgic treat that brings me back to my childhood in Vietnam. During the moon festival season (early October), people exchange a box of beautifully shaped mooncakes with all sorts of different colors and fillings- it’s always a surprise what you get in the box.
Brian: UofM Football games and the Greenfield Village Halloween celebration. Also, Christen always comes to Ann Arbor in September, and we all hang out and connect again.
Linda: Michigan football games (well, mostly the tailgate part).
Sarah: Watching Michigan football on Saturdays!
Jessica: This isn’t going to be a big surprise since I live in Ann Arbor, but my favorite fall tradition is Saturday football games. We usually host tailgates in our garage (we are a short walk to the Big
House) so many friends, including office colleagues, swing by before or after the games.
Christen: Am I even allowed to say anything other than Michigan football?
What is your favorite part of fall?
Brian: I personally think September weather is WAY underrated- I love the early half of fall when the leaves change, especially on sunny days in September.
Kory: A nice crisp fall walk, preferably early in the morning before the world is hustling and bustling.
Linda: Fireplace and a movie on a chilly night.
Sarah: Leaf peeping-also known as touring around Colorado looking at the fall colors. The Aspens look amazing as they change from green to yellow to orange to red.
Christen: Carving pumpkins-I usually try to carve something silly and have been known to carve a pumpkin head and wear it on my actual head.
Jessica: Sweater weather and layering season makes some comfy, cozy fall outfits.
Chris: Archery-I’m an assistant coach for the Archery club at UofM *more on the next newsletter
Favorite Fall food or drink?
Kory: Second to my Zingerman’s Pumpkin Cheesecake, I love a classic donut! Wasem Fruit Farm is my favorite.
Jessica: I love warm cider w. rum or a cidermosa, especially during a tailgate.
Brian: A big NO to pumpkin spice-a big YES to cider!
Linda: Beef bourguignon (Julia Child’s recipe) or a cozy dinner at the Earle.
Christen: My kids and I always make pumpkin cookies with cream cheese drizzle icing.
Chris: LeDog – so much more than just a bowl of soup, especially when it’s a little chilly.
Sarah: A classic apple crisp is my favorite.
