With a lot of planning ahead and all hands on deck, we’ve executed a successful move into our new office space and it is already starting to feel like ours. We liked the space “as is” when the lease was signed but we had some ideas of how we would like to make it more functional for our work style; and we also wanted to make sure that it reflects our values and culture. Now, we’re fortunate to have enough space to spread out the various projects we’re each working on at any given time and have a comfortable place to host clients and spend our workweeks. So far, some clients have visited and seem to approve of our new digs at 924 N. Main…and when our clients are happy, we’re happy
What are some of your favorite things about the new office (affectionately referred to as 924)?
Linda: The number of windows is a really nice change of pace! The old place was cozy but it was pretty secluded from the outside; unless we’re up in the front conference room, you might not necessarily know what was going on outside weather-wise. Here, the sound of the rain hitting the roof is no joke! And we get tons of natural light; some days we don’t bother to turn on the overhead lights.
Brian: I agree the Northern exposure and the views of the river and the dam are a far cry from the views we used to have. But one of my favorite things about the new place are the trains coming by. One client has said our new location reminds him of a scene from a toy train set: we’ve got two sets of train tracks, a bridge, the river…he’s right!
What do you miss most about 213 W. Liberty?
Linda: I miss being able to walk to restaurants! And having the gym just up the street was really convenient.
Charlie: I miss our neighbors! I would wave to the same people every day (for better or worse, ha!) I also miss the creaky floors. I had to buy a rear-view mirror for my desk at the new office so people don’t sneak up on me – the carpeted floors here are so quiet!
Any surprises during the move?
Brian: I was pleasantly surprised that our current furniture fits into the new office. The desks were left from the previous tenants so we just rearranged a bit and the rest of our stuff just fit right in.
Kory: I was surprised at how big crickets are! We’ve freed a couple of crickets from the office so far – they were huge! (Note: Kory is the newest member of the team and the CAM Office Manager).
